I'm a bit of a beginner at water colour painting, so this was fun. I used some water colour pencils and pen as well because I didn't know how to make things stand out with just water colour paint.
Very Aussie! Reminds me of the bush out the back chok full of lizards & pythons (who infortunately were out the front door and in the roof most of the time!)
Pencils are great to get that fine detail if you're unsure with a brush.
I think a lot of the time people are surprised by snakes when they least expect it, like your little fellow. I don't mind them a bit, I have three as pets. I like your use of the medium.
I love watercolor pencils--it's the best of both worlds. Great job on your little hiker enjoying the wonders of nature!
